Mr.&Mrs.SAMATA & JEEVAN BORATE,S RESIDENCE AT SATARA

The multi level plot with a seasonal water body gave the inspiration for the initial design. The proposal was inspired by the stones, which turn in to pebbles with many years of being in the flow of water. The shedding of edges and sharpness of these stones was like being so adaptive to surroundings that it seemed great to think about a house that would look like it has been there and has been weathered to its form. But due to the challenging form and a rural setting of the site we had to turn to a new concept.

The existing design is based on the movement of a user from the entry to the site to the water body. The basic inspiration being that of the circulation in traditional step wells. A simple grid plan is brought in the third dimension by taking advantage of the levels on site and a complex and interesting roof-scape. The project is yet to be completed…..
